Carleton is a highly respeceted judge and clinician. He earned his 'R' in 1985 and has had the honor of judging some of the most prestigious shows including The Devon Horse Show, Washington International, and the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals. As a clinician, CB's unique ability to connect with any level along with his sense of humor always provides an educational and fun day.
ABOUT CARLETON
Carleton Brooks, best known as “CB”, is one of the most respected and recognized horsemen in the country. Whether piloting one of his many nationally ranked hunters to a winning round, showing a young prospect in hunter breeding classes, judging at a major horse show, or working with a wide variety of students and horses as a trainer and clinician, CB is a hands-on professional with an exemplary reputation. His very successful career spans over three decades coaching, judging, training, riding and competing. in 2019, Carleton was inducted to the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame and in 2021 he received the USHJA Lifetime Achievement Award.
CB founded Uphill Farm, Inc. in 1981 and in 2008 along with his wife, Traci, they established Balmoral Farm, Inc. They currently have three Southern California locations in Malibu, Palos Verdes and West Los Angeles. When not on the road you can find Carleton at his Malibu facility working with young prospects and client horses. In addition to focusing his skills on coaching, training and sales, CB is a sought after judge and clinician and is very active in the governance of horse sports at a national level.
CB is committed to the betterment of the horse industry and has been very involved in the following organizations and committees: the United States Equestrian Federation hunter and hunter breeding committees, the West Coast Hunter Challenge Series, the American Hunter Jumper Foundation and the Hunter/Jumper Hall of Fame selection committee.
